March 20 / Psalm 27

Psalm 27

Thinking and praying over the following verses: You have said, “Seek My face.” My heart says to You, “Your face, LORD, do I seek.” Hide not Your face from me. (vv. 8-9a) As I ponder, clearly I am not asking to see the Lord’s face, but I am asking for a deepening of that “personal relationship” with Him that we hear spoken so often in evangelical circles. And I wonder if I do, in fact, have that personal relationship. I have told the Avanza kids so many times, “Get to know Jesus; the more you know Him, you can’t help but love Him more.” And I know that and I believe that and I feel that love for Him. What more is there in that “personal relationship”? I feel like I’m missing something. Help! Wisdom, anyone?

  1. At this time, this Psalm seems particularly appropriate for the oppressed people of Ukraine. Their country is being torn to pieces, they have been falsely accused, and they need the strength of the Lord to help them overcome any enemy, led by a tyrant akin to the devil himself. These desperate people have been the focus of my prayers of late, and I am confident that the Lord will see them through this horrendous time. It is as basic as good against evil. God help them.

    1. Super comment, Tom! An excellent connection for a Psalm some 3000 years old to what’s going on in Ukraine right now.

  2. These psalms from 25 on have helped me. 40 years ago, just after we moved from Duke (a four letter word here), I prayed with a small group of women to begin Bible Study Fellowship in Lexington. The rest is history. Is the Word your Lord, or is the Lord of the Word your Lord?
