Proverbs 4:10-19

So, how are we doing? Are we beginning to listen, to pay attention? Do we accept these words of wisdom? Are we following in the paths of uprightness? Are we keeping hold of instruction? Are we guarding her? Do we consider her to be our life?

Or how about wickedness and evil? Do we utterly reject those paths? Or do we enter the path of the wicked and walk in the way of the evil?

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn,
which shines brighter and brighter until full day.
The way of the wicked is like deep darkness;
they do not know over what they stumble.

Proverbs 4:18-19

Is the path you are on one of light or one of darkness?

  1. For they cannot sleep unless they have done wrong; they are robbed of sleep unless they have made someone stumble. (v. 16) This verse is speaking about the wicked. Frankly, it made me laugh to think of some sinister mind thinking about what he or she could do next to mess with someone’s life. But then I thought further that this is what Satan is all about – doing what he can, 24/7 to ruin a believer’s walk. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (I Peter 5:8)

  2. I am watching the dawn break this morning, slowly getting brighter until the sun peeks out over the trees behind our house. Then it gets ever brighter during the day. What a wonderful analogy in Pr. 4:18 for wisdom, or The Word as pointed out in an earlier proverb. God’s very presence growing brighter in my heart, new every morning. Praise God!
