I enjoyed the challenge of pondering last year’s comments and questions once again today.
As a reiteration of the false claim that Eliphaz presents, Fred and I recently watched the movie The Hiding Place again, about Corrie Ten Boom and her Dutch family hiding Jews in occupied Holland and getting sent to Auschwitz for their heroism. It was a grim reminder that suffering comes to the righteous as well as the unrighteousness.
But God is still sovereign in every situation we face, and He has used their story of suffering to witness to countless people in the intervening decades.
In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus reminds us that God “…makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust” (Matt. 5:45). Hmmm.
