Psalm 5
Dear RTB’ers,
Sorry for the delayed post – morning medical appointments…
Psalm 5, again “A Psalm of David”. Today I noticed David’s castigation of the wicked (Psalm 5:4b-6, 9-10) contrasted with his prayers for the righteous (Psalm 5:7-8, 11-12).
Interrupted! Gotta go…
Blessings!
If anyone hasn’t looked at their questions in STS yet for today, the second one is a good exercise: when, how, why, and for what does David pray?
While considering my answer, I looked through several translations, and found much variation in verse 3. However, the ESV really struck me:
The word “sacrifice” caught my attention. Is prayer a sacrifice? Actually, on days when I jump out of bed and immediately start in on all the jobs I have to do, my attention does not focus on God very easily or long. It is a sacrifice to stop doing MY things and pay attention to GOD’s things for a more extended period. David starts his day with prayer. I need to be more intentional about that too.
I had a good time digging through the Psalm for the other answers to this question too.
