Psalm 21:8-13

I have never been someone who embraced the Psalms lovingly. Today’s reading is one of those for which I can not easily relate. Verses 7 and 13 are meaningful – powerful even! But the rest of it, hard to relate to… I’m hoping some of the rest of you can weigh in more favorably.

  1. This part of the Psalm brings to mind Romans 1:30,31,32…haters of God…worthy of death… And Romans 8:22 For we know that the whole of creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.

It is not an easy thing to live in this world with people indifferent to God and very difficult with haters of God. Being retired has served to insulate me from a lot of people who fall into that spectrum, but when I worked there were days I felt surrounded by people who just had no understanding at all. There was quite a lot of “groaning” going on then!

I don’t find comfort in their punishment but in the assurance that I will one day live in a world set right.

As harsh as this second part is, it’s a setting to right of wrong things.

    Blessings on everyone’s day.
