Psalm 119:25-48

Dear RTB’ers,

Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in Your ways. (v. 37) What worthless things? A new car? A bigger flat screen TV? Your neighbor’s landscaping? A promotion? A salary raise? Porno (or simply bathing beauties)? Fame/respect? Food? They are all covered in I John 2:15-17, Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

Actually, God, Himself had already advised Moses and the Israelites thousands of years ago on the verse that I picked today (noted above). You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s. (Exodus 20:17) Yeah, what worthless things? ALL those “things”!!

Blessings.

Fred
