John 18:28-19:16

Dear RTB’ers,

No comments today, folks. But I do ask that you read these verses a couple of times in different translations and that do your own reflecting.

Blessings!

  1. Since Fred and John have asked us to respond several times, here goes…

I find myself focusing on Pilate in today’s readings. We’ve all read it before and recognize Pilate was convinced of Jesus’s innocence. When did he finally cave in to the Jews’ demands? When they threatened his own power and position, his reputation and status as a Roman governor.

There are Christian’s all over the world who are persecuted and imprisoned for their faith. They’ve lost positions, possessions, and personal relationships, yet they persevere in their faith.

Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.

    Philippians 3:8

Unlike Paul and all these fellow Christians, I have never been challenged that severely. I ask myself, “Would I stand up to the test? Do I recognize my need for Jesus above all else?” I pray yes.
